Govt To Include Ayurveda Treatments in Ayushman Bharat Scheme: Read Everything About It

The Ministry of Ayush is set to introduce 170 Ayurvedic treatment packages under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), addressing a range of health issues from common colds to cancer. This initiative marks the first time the ministry will integrate treatment options from various traditional systems, including <span>Ayurveda</span>, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, and Yoga, into the AB-PMJAY scheme. Notably, Ministry of Ayush is tasked with developing education, research and propagation of traditional and alternative medicines. 

<h2>Ayurvedic Packages Will Contain A Range Of Services </h2>The ayurvedic packages will encompass a variety of services, including medicines, wellness programs, operative procedures, and treatment centers, all designed to promote holistic care. The new offerings will be part of indoor Panchakarma services, which include accommodations, dietary plans, lifestyle guidance, and yoga practices.

Final discussions are underway with insurance companies to facilitate the seamless inclusion of these packages, which will cover conditions such as paralysis, acute back pain, diabetes, hypertension, and more. The National Health Authority (NHA) has already established cost structures for these packages to ensure they remain accessible to the public.

This expansion is part of the broader AB-PMJAY initiative, which provides cashless health insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh per family annually for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. The Ministry of Ayush recently conducted a review meeting to ensure the effective integration of these ayurvedic treatments into the existing healthcare framework.

One of the core principles of Ayurveda is to maintain a balanced lifestyle, known as dinacharya. This involves following a regular daily routine that includes waking up early, eating at regular times, and getting adequate sleep.

Another important aspect of Ayurvedic self-care is seasonal eating. Consuming foods that are in season and aligned with your unique constitution (dosha) can help maintain balance and support your mental health.

Self-massage, or abhyanga, is a powerful Ayurvedic technique for promoting relaxation and reducing stress. By massaging your body with warm oil, you can nourish the tissues, improve circulation, and soothe the nervous system.
