Delhi-based art and design collector Shalini Passi has been ruling headlines for all the right reasons. After appearing on the reality show, Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, she has been in the limelight for her statements on liquid diet, enamel erosion and a lot more. Now, in a recent interview with a leading media organisation, Passi opened up about her inclination towards spirituality and revealed that she has shaved her head at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams four times. "Even for me, when I shaved my hair at Tirupati, I had it four times. So for me also, I don't want to style my hair much, because ultimately, I will donate it." While there is no proven health benefit of shaving your head, it does have other advantages. Shaving your head helps you deal with hair loss, which equally affects both males and females. Maybe you are not fond of your receding hairline, thinning hair or irregular growth pattern. Plus, certain hair conditions, such as alopecia areata, can cause patchy hair loss. Here, shaving comes as the best rescue. Shaving hair also means less maintenance and eventually a cut on your expenses. There's no need for a comb or a blow dryer. Moreover, having short hair also means that you can take shorter showers. If your head is shaved, you will not need those fancy, expensive hair care products. It is often a do-it-yourself task, so you can likely save on a salon or barbershop.Forget about bad hair days. Sometimes a new look can lift your spirits. Notably, perceptions of baldness change with the times. Some research from 2012 suggests that men who shave their heads are seen as having attractive dominant traits. In general, women are viewed as more confident when they disregard convention about their appearance. Does Shaving Your Head Actually Make Your Hair Thicker? No. Shaving your head does not affect the hair density or make it thicker. That is a complete myth. Moreover, the growth of hair also does not change its colour. Notably, older growth of hair tapers out at the ends and lightens with exposure to sunlight. Fresh growth may be a bit darker at first. It's blunt, so it tends to stick up, which creates the illusion of higher density until it grows longer. Also, the new hair growth does not retain hair colours. No matter what hair colour or style you get, your new hair will grow in its old texture and colour.
