The extract from this supplement may increase blood flow to the brain and improve brain functions like focus and memory in older individuals. The key active ingredients in Ginkgo biloba include terpenoids, polyphenols, organic acids, and flavonoids. Research into the effectiveness of Ginkgo biloba and EGb 761 for treating dementia has been promising, but mixed. A study published earlier this year analyzed 15 clinical trials assessing the impact of ginkgo extract on Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. Eleven of the studies reported improvements in cognition, neuropsychiatric symptoms, and overall function in dementia patients who took ginkgo or EGb 761. These improvements included better focus, memory, and emotional regulation. However, four studies found no significant difference between the extract and a placebo, suggesting that ginkgo's effectiveness may vary from person to person.
The recommended daily dose typically ranges from 120 to 240 milligrams, particularly when used to treat dementia symptoms. It’s important to note that while ginkgo can be helpful for brain health, it’s not a cure for Alzheimer’s or dementia, and results can vary depending on the individual. As with any supplement, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional before starting Ginkgo biloba, especially if you are already taking other medications or have a pre-existing medical condition. This is to ensure there are no potential interactions with other treatments you may be undergoing.

But do not fool yourself into thinking that you are getting a lot of high-quality protein," he tells The Washington Post.

Compared to other foods like eggs, Greek yoghurt, chicken, beans or fish, peanut butter falls short in the protein stakes while being energy dense, that is, high in calories and fat. What Should You Do?
The message here is not to stop consuming peanut butter. Far from it. It still deserves a spot in your diet but just not as your main protein source. Think of it more like a healthy fat that happens to have a bit of protein, rather than a protein supplement that happens to be tasty.

IER is a structured eating pattern where individuals dramatically reduce their calorie intake on just two non-consecutive days per week, while eating normally the rest of the time. It’s not fasting. You still eat—just much less. And unlike time-restricted eating (TRE), you’re not limited by hours in the day.
The most common format is 5:2 IER—five days of normal eating and two days of around 500–600 calories. On non-restricted days, the goal is to eat balanced meals without bingeing. In a randomized 16-week trial, 90 obese adults with type 2 diabetes were split into three groups:

Out of 90 participants, 63 completed the trial, with an average age of 36.8 and a BMI of 31.7 kg/m². Most had lived with diabetes for less than two years. People with diabetes and obesity often struggle with long-term adherence to rigid diets. The flexibility of IER may be the game-changer. But for now, experts say IER could be added to the diabetes care toolkit—not as a replacement for traditional plans, but as a more flexible, effective alternative for those who struggle with daily restrictions.
