68-year-old Film Producer Boney Kapoor once again left everyone stunned with his extreme weight loss when he dropped his latest photograph on Instagram. However, this wasn't the first time he had done it. Earlier in March, he had shared throwback pictures pointing to his amazing transformation. Months before that, his daughter Jahnvi Kapoor revealed that her father had lost 12 kgs. Boney Kapoor defies age to lose 14 kgsIn his Instagram post, the father of four wrote, "Hair is getting thicker. I am looking better. Lost 14 kgs, 8 more to go." He credited his transformation to his late wife Sridevi, saying, "My inspiration is my jaan, her art is behind me, her thoughts are always with me, she remains with me all the time." Kapoor's photos triggered chatter on social media with several lauding his age-defying weight loss. However, many voiced out the perilous nature of crash diets and starvation.Extreme weight loss, especially in older adults, can be risky if not managed carefully. Rapid weight loss often involves severe calorie restriction, which can lead to muscle loss, nutritional deficiencies, and weakened immunity. Older individuals are more vulnerable to these effects due to age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia) and changes in metabolism. Additionally, rapid weight loss can strain the heart, kidneys, and bones, increasing the risk of fractures and cardiovascular issues. Experts generally recommend gradual weight loss combined with a balanced diet rich in nutrients and regular strength training to preserve muscle mass. Consulting a healthcare provider before undertaking any significant weight loss program is crucial, especially for older adults. Tailoring the approach to include adequate protein intake, hydration, and monitoring health markers ensures that weight loss is both safe and sustainable, avoiding potential health complications that can arise from extreme dieting methods.Earlier in an interview, while discussing his transformation, Kapoor also opened up about the extreme measures Sridevi took to maintain her iconic image. "She often used to starve... She would make sure that she is chiselled and in good shape, so that on-screen, she looks good," he revealed. Kapoor added that Sridevi avoided salt entirely in her meals and often experienced blackouts, but despite doctors’ warnings, she remained committed to her appearance. "The doctor kept on saying she had a low BP issue, don't get into this severe diet where you avoid salt," Kapoor shared. Notably, as speculation continues regarding Sridevi’s untimely death in 2018, Kapoor emphasized that her intense dieting and health issues were significant factors.
