"Once I learn a sport, I try to up my game and learn another one, it keeps my cardiovascular health in check," says the 24-yeaar-old fitness influencer Dehradun-based Gary Lu. Recently seen in YAS Island for the upcoming Greatest Of All Trips show and previously seen in the MTV Splitsvilla 13, and MTV Roadies 19, Lu's journey of fitness and sporting has been an inspiring one." What really got me was the mental toughness required for the tasks in Greatest of All Trips. Strategy, focus, and pushing limits. And, let's be real, all that walking and running around was basically a cardio session in itself. I learned so much, pushed myself, and had a blast," Lu says as he talks about his experience of the upcoming game show. Lu's Love For SportsLu loves to take challenges as he jumps from one sport to another, he believes it keeps him flexible and his cardiovascular health in check. Currently, he is in love with surfing. "I have played a lot of sports. I have played basketball, football and recently I went to a trip to Bali and there I fell in love with surfing," he says. Apart from cardiovascular health, surfing also helps with muscle strength and it engages many muscles in your body including your arms, shoulders, back, legs and your core. It also helps with balance and coordination, a skill that helps you stay healthy, notes the influencer. "After training, I go for a swim, it keeps my body flexible, improves my cardiovascular health, this also increases my body's overall performance," he says in one of his daily workout videos. Lu also loves adventure, you can see him swim in open lakes and falls. Sometimes he does it before his workout routine and sometimes it comes afterwards. "When I do it before the routine, it makes me feel fresh and prepares my for the day. When I do it afterwards, it freshens me up from the long day of training. Sport helps me keep my mind and body healthy," he says. His Fitness TipsLu has lost 19 Kgs, he used to weigh 94 Kgs and reached his ideal weight of 75 Kgs. "You have to have a strong will," he says. Lu shares that he stopped eating any junk food or processed food and started eating all home food and recommends other people who want to lose weight too. "I also started fasting, sometimes I would go for OMAD (one meal a day), or other kinds of intermittent fasting. We are so used to waking up in the morning and stuffing our body with food. It is not necessary," he shares.He also encourages people to take out at least 30 minutes from their time. "Nobody is so busy that they cannot even take 30 minutes out from their entire day. Do some activity. Play a sport. If you cannot do that, go out for a walk or a jog," he suggests.Lu personally likes to complete his day with a run. There Is No ShortcutLu, while talking about his journey, he says that people need to understand that there exists no shortcut to the fitness journey. "It is a lifestyle," he emphasises. "Once you start focusing on your body, fitness, pick up a sport, do some kind of activity, your overall body changes for good. As a part of a cooling down tip, he recommends to go for ice-water baths. "Your body will tell you to get out of that tub, but you will get used to it and see its benefits. It not only helps with post workout recovery, but heals your muscles, prevents any inflammations or muscle injuries and kicks in your dopamine level, which keeps you motivated," he says.
